Welcome back to Follow That Cartoon! A series of entries in which I track the creation, submissions, and, hopefully, the sale of one cartoon.
(BTW, you can click on the images to see larger ones.)
OK, I got a comment (I’m looking at you, Lynch!) that the pacifier I’d drawn didn’t come off well in the final cartoon. So, lucky reader, I thought I’d fix it and show you the process:

Here’s the “binky” that some saw as two teeth…

…but with a flick of my graphics pad, it’s now a happy smile!

I also thought the rattle was getting lost, so I erased around it…

…and darkened the ends.
I also added the lettering in the cartoon and the caption:

The repaired ink version with the new improved baby.

Adding some narcissism…

…and distorting it.

A meaningless detail…

…that for some reason I couldn’t let go of.

And, finally, the caption.
After all that I give it its number and save it:
Then it’s entered into my database:
Now it’s basically waiting until I get some cartoons ready to send out. See ya then…
(BTW, wanna see the last FTC? Here you go…)

You know, now that you've shown all this, I realize that being a cartoonist is full of a lot of headache-inducing technical labor!
Monday: I bag this cartooning biz and start my drywall business.

Nice cartoon as always, but I'm fascinated by the screenshot of your tracking/filing software. What is that? It looks a lot snazzier than anything I ever used.

I'm using a custom database I built in Filemaker 8. It lines up with my MySQL database for the website too, so I can basically update the site viaFM8. I'd highly recommend it.

Anderson, stop with that Star Trek technobabble and speak English!

I think I saw that Star Trek episode. Mr. Scott throws his hands in the air and tells Kirk, "I'm using a custom database I built in Filemaker 8. It lines up with my MySQL database for the website too, so I can basically update the site viaFM8. It kinna go any faster, Captain!"
I've never used filemaker, and I don't know what a MySQL database is. With luck I'll tune in to Andertoons some day and find a Rosetta stone explanation
