Welcome back to Follow That Cartoon! A series of entries in which I track the creation, submissions, and, hopefully, the sale of one cartoon.
Well, I did the art yesterday, and I’m relatively pleased with the results (click on the images to see larger versions):

The entire page of pencil sketches

The inked cartoon (entire page)

Next up is scanning, captioning, and any little Photoshop fixes/additions. See ya then…

I’m starting a new series of entries today that I’m really excited about. I’ve decided to follow a cartoon from it’s inception, hopefully all the way through the sale.
So, here’s where ti all begins:
The cartoon we’re going to follow is the top one. It seems a little weird, but I like it.
(In case you can’t read it, here it is: Car mechanic holding baby w/ rattle to person – “I think I found what was causing that rattle.”)
I saw my baby daughter’s rattle on the counter and this one just sort of came to me.
This is how I always start. I just free associate for a bit and see what comes out. Then I jot it down on a piece of paper and toss it in a box to be drawn later.
I’ll write again when I do the sketch…
