In case you hadn't heard, LEGO is coming out with some superhero sets in 2012. They've got licenses for both DC & Marvel and if you've read even only a few posts here at the blog you know that I'm fairly giddy about this.
Anyway, LEGO's been holding a contest where you submit your LEGO superhero creations and, drumroll please... I won!
Yep, LEGO Catwoman here won me all of the upcoming 2012 LEGO DC Universe sets! Hee-hee! Hee-hee-hee! WOO!
See? Giddy!
BTW, if you wanna see the other stuff I created, you can check it out here. Wanna enter and maybe win yourself? Click here!

After finishing my massive LEGO Alphabet Spaceships project, I was looking for something a little less restrictive design=wise, and this collection of Unnecessary LEGO Batman Vehicles filled the bill.
The idea here is that in addition to the Batmobile, the Batwing, the Batcopter, etc..., that Batman has a Bat-vehicle for pretty much anything, even the mundane.
I've posted a few along the way, but now that I've finished with an even dozen, here's all of them, including my last entry:

The Bat-Tractor

The Bat-Gondola

The Bat-Supermarket Scooter

The Bat-Blimp

The Bat-Bumper Cars

The Bat-Zamboni

The Bat-Balloon

The Bat-Golf Cart

The Bat-Segway

The Bat-Go-Kart

The Bat-Riding Mower

The Bat-Pogo Stick
Well, that's it for my Unnecessary LEGO Batman Vehicles. You can see more pics at Flickr.
What's next? You'll know when I know.
I've been wanting to try my hand at another large LEGO art piece, but was looking to try something other than the standard mosaic. So I created this tiled line art piece based on the Darwyn Cooke Catwoman.
All the black tiles are connected with white hinges underneath and connected here and there to plate studs placed strategically in the white tiles.
It measures about 20" x 30" and I had to order around 1500 of the 2x2 white tiles from Germany to get it covered.
Here's a little closer look:

I'm really pleased with the result, and I'm already planning some other LEGO line art projects.
You can see it better over at Flickr! Meow!
BTW, don't miss these other awesome Catwomen by Bruce Timm, Art Baltazar, Mike Maihack, Amanda Conner, and Darwyn Cooke!
I've really been into LEGO superheroes as of late, and the new Godzilla minifig immediately suggest the Lizard to me, so I put together this little vignette with Spidey in the sewer:

This really did happen. We were driving home and he actually says "this is the fourth best doughnut I've ever had!"
As soon as we hit a stop light I jotted it down on the back of a bank receipt. It sat in my office in the idea box for months until this morning at 4 AM when, for reasons I don't pretend to understand, the other three doughnuts popped into my head.
I knew if I got up to write them down I'd wake up the Mrs, so I repeated them under my breath over and over until I figured they'd stick in my head.
I got up around 5, got my coffee, and a few hours later I had what you see above. It was so much fun to draw!
Anyway, hope you enjoy it!
